Senior Human Resources Manager (Department of One)

SAMU is seeking a proactive and dynamic Senior Human Resources Manager. In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for all aspects of human resources management, including talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, compensation and benefits, HR strategy, and organizational development. You will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, management, and employees, fostering a positive workplace culture while ensuring adherence to employment laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment and Staffing:
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract talent that aligns with company values and culture.
  • Conduct interviews, coordinate selection processes, and facilitate onboarding for new hires.
  • Manage job postings, sourcing, and applicant tracking systems.

 

  1. Employee Onboarding/Offboarding:
  • Sending offer letters and contracts.
  • Establishing employee accounts and organizing benefits enrollment.
  • Facilitating onboarding sessions with new employees.
  • Conducting exit interviews and notifying relevant departments of employee departure.
  • Ensuring access revocation and return of company property upon employee departure.
  • Working with Finance Team to ensure timely payment of final paychecks and any benefits due.

 

  1. Employee Relations:
  • Act as the main point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support.
  • Mediate employee relations issues and conduct investigations as necessary.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives.

 

  1. Performance Management:
  • Design and implement performance management processes, including regular reviews and feedback mechanisms.
  • Assist managers in establishing performance goals and development plans.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities.

 

  1. Compliance and Policy Management:
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Review and update employee handbooks and HR policies as needed.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

 

  1. Compensation and Benefits:
  • Administer and manage employee compensation and benefits programs, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Conduct regular market research to maintain competitive compensation practices.

 

  1. HR Strategy and Organizational Development:
  • Contribute to the development of HR strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Support organizational development initiatives and change management processes.
  • Analyze HR metrics and reports to inform decision-making.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Masters degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a generalist role as an HR department of one.
  • English fluency required, a second language is preferred (Spanish, French, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with HR software and applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass required background checks and health screenings (drugs, alcohol, TB).
  • Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to work in-person within the DMV area, with occasional travel/accompaniment to other locations.

Employment Type: Full-Time 

Compensation: $85,000- $105,000
