Why?

Inspired by our mission to save lives we provide shelter and healthcare to unaccompanied foreign minors.

Experience

Our Family and Child Care branch has operated for 15 years pioneering projects for the accommodation of up to 25,000 children and teenagers. It has been awarded multiple grants by the Public Administration to manage emergencies substantially related to immigration. As a result, we have established over 40 shelters and facilities tailored to the different health, language, educational, and integration.

We deploy and operate fully functioning emergency shelters in less than 24 hours and have hosted over 250 minors.

Experienced and qualified staff

We have 400+ team members actively working with minors and close to 500 professionals from other organizations that have trained at our Emergency School trained to advocate and serve unaccompanied minors.

24 hour response team

Our Approach

SAMU offers care to unaccompanied minors in initial reception centers and long stay centers. The majority of our centers were established in 2020 due to the volume of people served and are located in the Canary Islands and Algeciras.

FORMER SHELTERED MINORS

SAMU’s accompaniment does not end with assistance in the juvenile centers, but reaches further into their adulthood when they are incorporated into society and the job market.

When a child reaches the age of 18 and lacks family support, housing, and the appropriate resources, they are able to stay in our autonomy flats for up to one year. SAMU ensures autonomy for those who stay with us through our management of the sheltered housing program.

These programs provide a space to develop maturity in a comprehensive way and support them during their transition to adult life. The three types of housing provided are:

Socio-Labor Skills Acquisition Program (6-8 spots)

Form Sheltered Young Migrants

Legal Age Housing (18 and over)

Making a donation to SAMU First Response makes a difference. Our Program Expense Ratio is 92.61%*. We keep structure costs to a strict minimum to maximize our resources on the ground. All our managers and responders volunteer with a very strong sense of purpose. Saving lives is our driving force.
