Michael Pennington

Senior Advisor

Michael Pennington is a Senior Advisor for SAMU Foundation.  Prior to working with SAMU, Michael was the Executive Director of the Tri-County Council for the Lower Shore of Maryland (TCCLES). The Tri-County Council, located in Salisbury, Maryland, is a regional planning and economic development organization serving Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties and was formed by an Act of the Maryland General Assembly in 2001. The Council membership is made up of municipal, county and state elected officials as well as the county administrators from the three counties.
As Executive Director, Michael was involved in the establishment and development of the Council since its inception. In addition to working with planning and economic development the Council has divisions responsible for regional public transportation (Shore Transit) and workforce development (Lower Shore Workforce Alliance). During his tenure, the Council grew into an organization with nearly 180 employees and a budget of over $13 million.
With over 15 years of private sector work experience and twenty plus years of public sector experience, Michael brings a broad perspective to the operations of SAMU Foundation. He resides, with his wife and family, on the farm on which he was raised just outside of Berlin, Maryland.
