With over 20 years of experience in accounting, financial management, and auditing, she has developed a robust skill set that encompasses both hands-on and executive functions. Her background includes the day-to-day management of finance teams and departments, focusing on critical areas such as monthly closing, bank and general ledger reconciliation, budgeting, financial reporting according to US GAAP, grant management, strategic planning, procurement, external audit coordination, system implementation, and tax return management.
As a Senior Staff Accountant at the Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative, she oversees the day-to-day financial activities, actively participates in the organization’s budget preparation, maintains relationships with financial funders, and ensures the timely submission of invoices. Additionally, she is responsible for handling budget preparation, invoicing, and reporting to the DC-based funders like CFSA, OVSJG, and FRSP, all of which are main offices governed by DC.
Her previous experience includes working as a Staff Accountant with Robert Half, where she assisted with month-end closings, reconciled accounts, processed contributions and invoices, and supported grant management. Prior to that, she held the position of Accounting and Finance Department Head at Justice for All Prison Fellowship Ethiopia, where she managed financial data analysis, guided finance team operations, and ensured compliance with USAID grant requirements.
Throughout her career, she has held various managerial positions in both nonprofit organizations and the private sector, including roles such as Director of Institutional Support at Selam Children’s Village and Deputy General Manager at Alvima Import & Export Plc. Her academic qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Public Financial Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, alongside certifications in accounting software.
